FRIDAY RANDOMS

Stock-10-blog

Happy Friday, loves! This week has been…insane…to say the least. A death in the family, super late work nights, high pressure cheer time getting ready for a city-wide exhibition, and an ER trip to make sure everything was ok with our baby boy after I had some intense side pain for several hours. Thank you all for all of your sweet words on my Instagram post last night. Everything seems to be fine now, but it was definitely strange, and frankly, really freaked me out.

Needless to say we found joy in the little things this week! Here are a few examples:

+ If you want a good laugh, add me on Snap Chat (rachelemily_49) for some #preggoprobs like crazy eye bags and using the Stair Master at a snails pace.

+ Speaking of bags, I need suggestions on a good eye cream, face mask, SOMETHING to help these suckers. I have pretty sensitive skin so I’m always nervous to try something new. HELP ME.

+ Our local Kids Gap is closing at the end of January which might be the saddest day of my life – they always have my favorite kids clothes! Luckily, online shopping doesn’t seem to be going anywhere 😉 I’ve been stalking their site almost daily waiting for the best sale possible and they emailed me this morning with an extra 40% off your purchase this weekend (use code WEEKEND). So I pulled the trigger on a bunch of clearance basics for Camden and a couple pairs of maternity jeans for me!

+ Evelyn Henson’s illustrations are just the best and her free monthly tech downloads have brightened my screens for years now! I mean, how perfect is the “Always Carry Peonies” one? It’s currently on my iPhone screen!

+ Super obsessed with Making a Murderer. We are only three episodes in so I hate to make sweeping statements but SHEESH, it’s hard not to think this is police corruption at it’s worst.

+ If you love Ed Sheeran as much as I do (or even just like him a little bit I guess) you definitely need to check out the re-release of X (it’s called the Wembley Edition) on Spotify or whatever! It has 8 new songs and they are all just amazing. This one has got to be my favorite, though.

Hope you have a great weekend!

FRIDAY FAVORITES

IMG_0172

Happy Friday!! We have a busy, fun weekend ahead and I am so looking forward to finishing my shopping (whoops), making lots of cookies and other treats, wrapping gifts and celebrating the season with friends! Can it be Christmas forever?

ONE | NEW JUTE RUG
I shared the above picture on my Instagram the other night and I think it was the moment I fell in love with our new jute rug (found here for 75% off right now!). I mean, I knew I liked it but I am officially in love. It’s actually softer than I imagined it would be and fits our living room perfectly! If you (cough, or your husband) is on the fence – take the plunge! I’ll try to remember to share a better picture someday :)

TWO | SERIAL
Please tell me I’m not the only one obsessed with this season? Ask my husband, I’m never a huge fan of war-themed things like movies but I am enthralled by this story line! They are unraveling the story of American Army Soldier Bowe Bergdahl who left his post in Afghanistan, was captured by the Taliban and held captive for five years. He has never told his side of the story before now and it’s just…riveting. I mean, the host talks to people from the Taliban on the phone. I didn’t know that was even a thing! Find out where you can listen, here.

THREE | INSTAGRAM NOTIFICATIONS
Ok, I don’t know if this is news or not, but it was news to me and has changed my life. Did you know you can set your Instagram so that your phone sends you a push notification when your favorite people post?! Idk about you, but every once in a while I was searching out my faves to make sure I hadn’t missed anything and now I don’t have to do that! All you have do is go to any picture of the person you want to get notifications from, hit the “…” on the right side, then hit “turn on post notifications” and they will never get lost in the mumbo jumbo of your feed again!

FOUR | HOLIDAY HOUSE TOUR
Thank you SO MUCH for all of the love on my Holiday Decor Home Tour yesterday! I take our home for granted A LOT and hearing your sweet words about it really reminded me how blessed we are to be able to live here. I get caught up in everything that I wish it was too much! So thank you again and if you missed it you can find it here. Encouraging, sweet words welcome, but not necessary :)

FIVE | LINK LOVE
Lots of holiday deliciousness around blogland this week! Jess from How Sweet Eats shared the most decadent looking Croque Monsieur Crostini that I need in my life ASAP. These Spiked Peppermint Mochas from Glitter Guide could not be easier to make with a Nespresso or Kurig mocha cup! Obviously, I won’t be spiking mine 😉 Making sure our home smells nice is a job a take very seriously so I can’t figure out why I haven’t ever made something like this Christmas in a Pot Stovetop Potpourri from Carolina Charm. That will be changing this weekend!!

FRIDAY FIVE

Photo-May-13-4-25-01-PM

Happy Friday, friends! This week has been n-u-t-s and this weekend does not look like it’s going to slow down at all but we’re ready! Sunday we will hopefully have time to slow down, carve our pumpkins, and watch The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (which my husband hates but WILL learn to love…someday). Fingers crossed guys, fingers crossed.

ONE | CARAVAN SHOPPE
I discovered my new favorite shop for printables this week – Caravan Shoppe! Oh my goodness oh my goodness, I’ll take one of each, please! Next week I should have a fun, seasonal DIY ready to show you guys using their oversize chalkboard prints but for now just go click around their site and download all the adorable FREE things, at least, because they are GOOD.

TWO | THE GOOD GIRL
I’m planning a good book review for next week as well (Two planned posts for next week? Who do I think I am?) BUT I wanted to tell you guys about how I finished The Good Girl by Mary Kubica and it was really, really good. I won’t say I technically “read” it, because I listened to it on Audible but I would definitely recommend The Good Girl if you are in to mystery-type books that aren’t quite as twisted as Gillian Flynn’s books. Shiver.

THREE | SHOPBOP PURCHASES
My Shopbop Friends and Family purchases came in earlier this week and I think I made some good choices if I do say so myself 😉 My favorite would have to be this navy Deux Lux Bucket Bag, but my new grey Converse and navy BB Dakota Shift Dress aren’t too shabby either!

FOUR | JURASSIC WORLD
Maybe this makes me the weirdest person on the planet but I feel like I’ve been waiting for this DVD release for my entire life. OMG I’m obsessed with this movie. I’ve attempted to watch it twice this week already. I really can’t be sure why but I just can’t get enough. #nerdalert

FIVE | 2016 PLANNERS – HAAAALP ME!
It’s about that time…time to settle on and buy 2016’s planner. I used the Erin Condran Life Planner for years but this year I went with Whitney English’s Day Designer and as much as I like it, it’s just too bulky and frankly the price tag just hurts this time of year. Amanda talked about her faves yesterday but I would love to know what version you all use! Let me know in the comments.

Hope you all have a fab fall weekend!

ONE | SUMMER SQUASH
Nathan loves zucchini but I could take or leave it. Unfortunately, (maybe that was strong language) it abounds in Southern Indiana this time of year. Everyone grows it in their garden and every booth has it at the farmer’s market – AKA I can’t get away from it. So I’ve been trying to cook and enjoy it more this summer. This week we diced some up along with a yellow squash and half a white onion then tossed it in EVOO, salt and pepper and threw it on the grill. Holy yum. New summer favorite.

TWO | BOLGILATES WATER BOTTLE
I struggle with drinking enough water throughout the day. It’s not that I’m bust drinking soda or anything I just actually hate the full feeling that water gives you. (I know, I know that’s kind of the point). Anyways, my friend got us each these Blogilates Timer Bottles and I’ve been using it all week. It is basically marked on the hour to remind you to drink water at that time. Dare I say it has been working? I’ve drank the recommended amount (64 oz.) or more every day!

THREE | GLITTER GUIDE FOR LULU & GEORGIA
Holy smokes, ya’ll. Have you seen the rug the Glitter Guide girls designed for Lulu & Georgia? Swoon worthy. I go on and on about loving a neutral house but that it one pop of color I can get behind. I’m thinking the long one in our main hallway. The price point is not completely unreasonable either.

FOUR | ON HAVING TWO DOGS
Just reading that sentence I had to sigh. Our cuddly pup is not. cuddly. at all. with another dog in the house. They play/fight/wrestle each other from sun up to sun down. They also wake each other up promptly at 4:40 every morning. (Is that the time you have conditioned her to wake up parents?!) I also don’t miss having a “new” dog in the house that feels they need to pee every where to mark their territory if you know what I mean… Obviously, I love my parent’s dog and am super happy all of us have somewhere to take our dogs to be loved while the other is gone but dang, is this what having multiple kids is like?! I told someone yesterday that I had been listening to them fight over a blanket all morning and she said “Hey! My kids were doing that too!” Insert crying laughing emoji here.

FIVE | CHEER CAMP
Tomorrow is the day! Day Two of cheer camp for my girls! I can’t wait to see their pretty faces. But like, who picked the Saturday morning 8 AM start time? Oh wait that was me.

Have a great weekend, dolls!

FRIDAY FIVE

Happy Friday Love Muffins! Do you ever have one of those weeks where all your time is f-l-y-i-n-g by but when you look back you aren’t sure why? I blame the beautiful weather (eighty degrees in July?!) we’ve had the last few days for keeping me preoccupied with walks and patio reading (and that silly thing called work) instead of blogging. Such is life in the summer though, am I right?

ONE | CYCLING
If all goes as planned, I may be in my first cycling class ever as you read this. I’m in pretty ok shape but I’m soo nervous so if you have any helpful tips please send them my way! Do you all cycle?

TWO | THE ROYAL WE
Almost every day this week I sat my butt on the patio for about 30 minutes after work to get some sun and read. It was glorious! I finished Save the Date (just ok), started the fourth Harry Potter (always incredible) but gave up HP when The Royal We showed up on my doorstep. I ordered The Royal We after seeing a few people post about it on their blog or Instagram and holy cow, best decision I’ve made in a while. I can not put it down! It’s basically a fiction about a girl and a prince that meet in college (think Will and Kate). My obsession with Will, Kate and everything British is no secret so I’m sure you aren’t surprised I am loving this book!

THREE | GROWN UP ROOT BEER FLOAT
If you haven’t heard of Not Your Father’s Root Beer by now, you miiight be living under a rock BUT it is basically a beer (ale) that tastes straight up like root beer. Root beer is one of the only sodas Nathan really likes so I’ve been on the hunt for some of this stuff for him for weeks! Apparently, it’s a huge deal and every place that sells it in our town will only allow you to buy one six-pack at a time because they sell out so quickly. Anyways, we finally found some this week and I (being me) decided we needed some ice cream to make MY favorite treat, root beer floats. We are going to make them tonight AND I CAN NOT WAIT.

FOUR | PAINTING
Unbeknownst to my husband, I plan for us to spend a lot of the upcoming weekend painting. Now that I got the office cleaned up I’m itching to put a pretty color up in that room! We also have the laundry room, second bath, and laundry room to paint. Hooray! I’m trying to stick with something around this color pallet.

FIVE | SINGLE THREAD PURCHASES
Obsessed with my latest Single Thread Boutique purchases. Can’t wait to get all this gorgeous stuff!
